Random Thoughts From A New Zealander

My Shiny New Shoes

Posted on | May 1, 2010 | No Comments

I bought two pairs of new shoes today. One pair are casual shoes that I will wear on the weekend, while the other pair are smart shoes that I will wear to work.

I had my previous sneakers for about  five years, and my smart shoes were even older than that. They were well and truly past it. The shoes were held together with superglue, and even the superglue was struggling to keep the shoes in one piece.

Maybe I need to stop being so thrifty and start replacing my clothes and shoes a bit more regularly.

No More Facebook At Work

It appears that Facebook has been banned at work. I went to check the site yesterday, and found that I couldn’t access the site due to changes in the company’s “security policy”.

I’m assuming that the change affects other people too – although I haven’t been game enough to ask in case it was only blocked on my account!

Research has shown that a little bit of personal web surfing can increase productivity during work related activities. As a result, I am surprised that the IT department has blocked Facebook. I can only assume that some people were spending a bit too much time on the site!

Hurrah For Global Warming

It seems that New Zealand is going to get a warm, dry winter. New Zealand’s winters can be brutal at times, so it will be nice to have a warm winter for a change.
