Working 9 to 5, What a Way to Make a Living

21 October 2007

New Zealand has the lowest unemployment that it has had in a long time. Currently standing at 3.6%, pretty much everyone is working hard - but it seems that the Labour Party still isn't happy. While they should be celebrating the fact that (almost) everyone has a job, they are now moaning that people are working long hours and want to bring in legislation to stop it.

Good grief! The Labour Party is a pro-employee, anti-employer party, where they want everyone to have a job but they don't actually want anyone to do any work! The Labour Party needs to realise that if you want everyone to have a job, then they will need to do some work. And if that means working more than forty hours a week, then so be it. We have an economy to run here, and if we want to become a wealthy nation with high wages, then we have to put in some effort. Introducing legislation to stop people working is counter-productive.
