Félicitations à L'Équipe Française de Rugby

7 October 2007

The French have just won the quarterfinal rugby game against the All Blacks. I have one word to say to that: hallelujah! New Zealand is a rugby-mad nation. *Too* rugby-mad! As Kerre Woodham just said on the her radio show, at least it's a lovely day outside. That's right, Kerre: it's not the end of the world just because we lost the rugby! Now that it's all over, you can go outside, enjoy the sunshine, and get on with life.

I have the misfortune of working for one of the All Blacks' sponsors. A couple of days ago, all the rugby fans went mad and the office turned in to a shrine for the All Blacks. I am looking forward to the office returning to normal this week so that I can get on with my work.

The news reports are full of stories about the All Blacks losing. I can only hope that New Zealand will get over its grieving quickly (huh! Not likely!) and that people realise that rugby was the winner on the day!
