Happy Boxing Day!

26 December 2007

Christmas Day has come and gone for another year. Having my sister's four-year-old twins with us made the day really special. They were so excited about everything - which of course lead to the inevitable fights and tantrums, but that is to be expected.

The weather was great, so we all went to the Botanic Gardens in Christchurch for a picnic. This meant that the twins could run around the playground instead of running around the house. My mother made some great food for both the picnic lunch and for dinner. It was the first time in years that anyone in the family had eaten lamb, as my parents had had some dodgy experiences with it in the past. We were surprised at how nice it was.

The twins know how to write their names now, so could pick out their presents by looking at the tags. It was a bit of a surprise when Tom ran in to the lounge, picked up the present I had bought for him, said "This one's got my name on it" and ripped the wrapping off it. But I find it quite amusing looking back on it.

All that remains now is to eat the leftovers and enjoy the presents and memories.
