Interesting Stories From Across The Ditch

13 April 2008

A few interesting stories have come out on the other side of the Tasman this weekend. Firstly, there is the story of Australia's tightest man. This guy sure knows how to save money. Amongst other things, the man is suggesting a weekly blackout night where no electricity is used. As if the recent Earth Hour wasn't enough!

Yes, I could do with some more money, but this guy's ideas are a bit too extreme for me!

The second story from Australia is that they are about to get their first female Governor-General. Australia, of course, lags a bit behind New zealand. At one stage, not too long ago, the four most powerful positions in New Zealand (the Governor-General, Prime Minister, Leader of the Oppostion, and the Attorney General) were all held by women. This goes to show that, in New Zealand politics at least, the glass ceiling doesn't exist.

And for those women who are tired of taking responsibility for the contraception, check out this story. Unfortunately, it appears that the contraception won't be on the market any time soon, which may be due to the fact that most fellas are scared of needles. The decreased sperm count would also affect our egos.
